On November 20, 2024, the Center for Sustainable Futures and the Sustainability Task Force brought the Teachers College community together for the Sustainability Idea Lab. Held in GDH 359, the drop-in event ran from 1 to 3 PM, offering a collaborative space for TC faculty, students, and staff to exchange ideas and refine their submissions for the inaugural Sustainability Projects Showcase set for January 30, 2025.
The room buzzed with conversation as participants explored project ideas ranging from eco-anxiety to integrating localized practices into climate change education curriculum. Our CSF and STF team was on hand to provide feedback and answer questions, while peer discussions inspired new directions for potential projects.
The event not only energized participants but also spotlighted the diverse sustainability efforts already underway at TC. From early-stage concepts to fully developed proposals, the Idea Lab served as a vital step toward crafting impactful submissions ahead of the showcase’s December 10 deadline at 11:59 PM.
Our organizers expressed their enthusiasm for the showcase itself, which promises to be a platform for groundbreaking work and multidisciplinary research. The Center for Sustainable Futures encourages anyone with questions about submissions to reach out before the deadline. As the countdown to the January 30 showcase continues, the TC community is set to shine a light on its commitment to sustainability and education for a brighter future.
