The Office of Access and Services for Individuals with Disabilities
The Office of Access and Services for Individuals with Disabilities (OASID) assists Teachers College in its effort to be responsive to both the letter and spirit of the Americans with Disabilities Act and other similar legislation. Programs and services for individuals with disabilities have been developed to ensure that higher education environments at Teachers College are physically, programmatically, and attitudinally accessible. The aim of OASID is to ensure equal access through the provision of a wide range of individualized services for persons with varying disabilities.
OASID offers an array of accommodations, services and resources for those registered with the Office. These may include: orientation sessions, assistance with registration, assistance with academic adjustments, testing accommodations, adaptive technology, and classroom accommodations such as readers, note takers, research assistants, sign language interpreters, and computer assisted real-time captioning (CART).
In addition, OASID maintains a collection of materials on disability, the law, education, adaptive technology and disability studies. The Office also has information on a variety of disability related organizations and services on the local, state and federal levels.
