TC's Koch: Lobbying Will Only Accelerate Decline of Big Food

An op-ed in the Huffington Post, coauthored by TC's Pam Koch, says the latest proposed Dietary Guidelines sound "the final death knell" for large food companies, as they witness "the rapid evacuation of their consumers." Koch and coauthor Hans Taparia conclude that Big Food's [l]obbying against the Dietary Guidelines will not change that, and with the microscope so sharply focused on them, it is likely to further damage consumer trust and backfire."


Pamela Koch is Executive Director and Associate Research Professor at TC's Laurie M. Tisch Center for Food, Education, and Policy. The Center conducts research about the connections between a just, sustainable food system and healthy eating, and translates the results of that research into useful resources for food educators, policy makers, and community advocates.
