TC Summer Movement Challenge June – September 2020

The TC Summer Movement Challenge was a community-wide campaign to motivate all current & incoming students, alumni, faculty and staff to “Come Together” and get moving in honor of the Teachers College Class of 2020. EXerT Clinic provided tips and suggestions to get (and keep!) everyone moving, including weekly motivational videos, twelve in all! Movers in the challenge “moved” over 45,000 miles around the globe and raised over $11,000 for students.

SKIP! At Teachers College Community School - Upper School Wednesday, February 26, 2020

Members of the EXerT Clinic team hosted an educational and interactive physical activity session for parents of children at TCCS that participate in SKIP! - Small Kids in Physical Activity. SKIP! is a program that was designed to promote physical activity and foster motor development in young children from low resourced families by using evidence-based research on pediatric movement, behavioral and developmental science, and physical education. The program began at Columbia University Head Start and Early Head Start with children and their caregivers which has now transitioned to Teachers College Community School (TCCS). Three of the Arthur Zankel Fellows, their sponsor Dr. Carol Ewing Garber, and members of Teacher's College EXerT Clinic held the workshop for the parents of students at TCCS.

International Week Opening Reception - Interactive Poster Session Monday, April 8th, 2019

As a part of TC’s International Week celebration, the EXerT Clinic provided an interactive poster session. Our team created a map of the world, then labeled 15-20 countries and made a trivia game about exercise in each country. As participants walked through the exhibits, people that stopped by were asked questions such as “What do you think is the most popular method of exercise in Egypt?” or “What percentage of people get the recommended daily activity in Japan?”. The event provided an accessible way for participants to engage in conversations about exercise and physical activity in a fun and engaging way!

TC Community Health Fair - Panda Takeover Thursday, April 4th, 2019

For our first Spring event of the 2018-2019 academic year at TC, the EXerT Clinic hosted a TC Community health fair, featuring our very own “Panda” mascot! Panda and our team members welcomed people across the TC campus to get their blood pressure checked, measure height and weight, perform a lung function test, and even hop on our stationary bike. Panda was there to do all of the tests along with our health fair attendees, who went home with individualized blood pressure cards and information on health, exercise, and well-being. Always keep on the lookout for our Panda mascot to show up at a health fair event!
