Studio 447

WELCOME TO STUDIO 447 AT TEACHERS COLLEGE

STUDIO 447 is a space for art pedagogy, imagination, and participation. As a Mixed Media Art studio space, the STUDIO 447 is designed and used to support a broad range of studio approaches in mixed media and multidisciplinary art and art education. In accordance with the principles, culture, and goals of the Art and Art Education Program students, faculty, visiting artists, and guest practitioners are welcome to use the space and its equipment in any way it will serve their practice, pedagogy, and community.

Due to its location and proximity to Macy Gallery, STUDIO 447 is a space that often allows connections and crossovers with current exhibitions, under the principles of museum and gallery education. Columbia students, School students, families, and Macy Gallery visitors from the broader community and neighborhood, may also participate in community engagement art-making sessions that correspond to contemporary shows at Macy Gallery.

STUDIO 447 is located on the 4th floor of Macy Hall. Facing North, the studio is all day exposed to sunlight with multiple surfaces to work on and experiment with mixed media art making.
