Over the past year, the Tisch Food Center convened a coalition of SNAP-Ed grantees in New York City in order to increase advocacy and visibility of nutrition education in the city. Monthly meetings allow implementers to explore opportunities for collaboration as well as the exchange of ideas.
The 2018/2019 farm bill remains a large focus of the coalition. Over the past few months, coalition members:
- Visited Capitol Hill to highlight their nutrition education programs [link to news event from the summer];
- Organized nutrition education site visits with elected officials [link to news event]; and
- Are planning future strategies to elevate the importance of SNAP-Ed for NYC residents.
