    biographical information

    As strategic change executive at IBM's corporate headquarters in Armonk, NY, Dr. Bazigos holds global responsibility for a number of internal and external initiatives related to workforce policy, effectiveness, skills and expertise.
    In prior roles at IBM, he had responsibility for enterprise wide workforce optimization, productivity strategies, and HR strategy and metrics. He transformed IBM's workforce scorecard, designed and launched "Manager Portal," the global one-stop resource shop for 39,000 managers worldwide, "ThinkPlace," the global site for 4000,000 employees to collaborate on innovation, and invented patent-pending technology and management processes to promote intelligent internal employee movement between job roles and careers. 

    Dr. Bazigos came to IBM from its acquisition of PricewaterhouseCoopers's consulting division in 2002, where he was a worldwide director for client globalization strategy. Before that, he was president of Beta Consulting Group, and a dean and professor at Pace University. He has consulted to top management teams of Global 500 corporations, addressed business audiences in all major world regions, and published in the organizational and educational professional literature.  

    Before his career in the private sector, Dr. Bazigos was a dean and professor at Pace University in New York, where he became the founding director of the Center for Urban Education, now in its 21st year.

    Strategy and Change Executive, Corporate Human Resources (2003 - current)

  •         Developed business scoring strategy, scorecard reports and recommendations in the areas of workforce optimization, productivity, leadership, climate, people development, and productivity. Affecting performance management approaches for over 430,000 employees worldwide, recommendations have been consistently accepted by the senior vice president for corporate human resources, with distribution to Chairman and World Management Council.

  •         Articulated corporate level business strategy and assessed impact to human resource strategy, resulting in the first realignment of corporate HR metrics in over three years, and a growing demand by external client executives, officers and professional interest groups for presentations and guidance on similar efforts in their own organizations.

  •         Contributed to IBM position paper on global resourcing strategy (formerly "offshoring"). Chairman accepted recommendation to allocate executive focus and resource to this area. Project office with Operating Team involvement now active.

  •         Developed and "sold" value proposition for a strategic addition to IBM's portfolio of on demand workplace initiatives resulting in project approval and a 41-country implementation today.

  •         Developed and helped bring to market worldwide shareholder value-based initiatives in Transformation Consulting (e-business emphasis), Globalization Strategy, and Corporate Center Design, resulting in combined revenue of over $400 million.

  •         Sold and led C-level projects in the areas of globalization, organization design, and post-merger integration.

  •         Assembled and published the book codifying PwC's point of view on the business opportunity for clients, MetaCapitalism: The E-Business Revolution and the Design of 21st Century Companies and Markets.           Representative Consulting Engagements:

     

  •         Led client CEO and top team through a top-line restructuring of a $16 billion annual revenue global engineering company, focusing on design of the groups, corporate center and all corporate functions. Collaborated with Andrew Campbell of the Ashridge Strategic Management Centre to leverage the learning, and create PwC's intellectual capital around transforming corporate centers into value-adding entities.

     

  •         Led global change management initiative for R&D organization of a major multinational pharmaceutical, designed to identify promising innovative drug compounds earlier in the process. Benefit case: $250 million in repeatable year-on-year revenue growth and cost reduction combination, with an additional average benefit of $42 million per drug brought to market via 6-week reduction in R&D cycle time from New Molecular Entity (NME) to Phase 3 clinical trial.

     

  •         Led global organization culture study and ensuing change engagement for the post-merger integration of a joint venture company held by two industry leaders in high technology. Led design and execution of global organization assessment, analysis, feedback, planning and implementation. Change areas included organization design, leadership, and culture to support a shift to fact-based, customer-centric strategy and organization.

     

  •         Led project to determine the optimal post-IPO organization design for a large global professional services corporation.

  •               Philip Morris Foundation Teacher Opportunity Corps  to recruit, prepare, and place teacher candidates from historically underrepresented minorities in teaching, with a special emphasis on clinical experiences in schools with high concentrations of at-risk pupils ($50,000 request pending review; sole author).                              

                  

  •               Annenberg / Chase NYC Board of Education Middle Schools Initiative to research, plan, and implement a districtwide reform effort targeting middle schools over a three-year period ($20,000 award; sole author).
