Federal Loan Origination Fee Calculator
When you take out a federal student loan, the U.S. Department of Education charges a loan origination fee. This fee is a percentage of your loan and is deducted before the funds are sent to the College. As a result, the amount you receive (the disbursement) will be less than the amount you borrow. However, you're still responsible for repaying the full loan amount, plus any interest that accrues.
To help you account for this fee when planning your finances, we've provided a federal loan origination fee calculator below. This tool can help you determine the correct loan amount to request in order to fully cover your cost of attendance. All figures are in U.S. dollars.
Note: Please visit our federal student loan web page to view the current origination fees and interest rates for Federal Student Loans.
