George Bonanno (Counseling and Clinical Psychology) was invited by the APA Science Directorate to join a small group of psychologists to meet with the head of the Behavioral Sciences Division of the FBI to help problem solve how to deal with the dilemma of terrorism in the United States. He was also awarded a SGER (Small Grant for Exploratory Research) by the National Science Foundation to do a study of the people who directly experienced the attack on the World Trade Center.

Judith M. Burton (Arts and Humanities) announced that The Heritage School received an Effective School Award in 2001 from the Council of Supervisors and Administrators. The School believes that school and community culture should be interwoven in the education of young adults. In the past five years, the Heritage School has made significant progress helping students achieve their potential through the arts.
