Jeanne Brooks-Gunn (Human Development) received the Award for Distinguished Contributions to Research in Public Policy from the Board for the Advancement of Psychology in the Public Interest. This award is for psychologists who have made a distinguished empirical and/or theoretical contribution to research in public policy either through a single extraordinary achievement or lifetime of work. Maggie Chan, a former Ben and Grace Wood Fellowship recipient at TC, had her Web site chosen as one of the top five sites of 2002 by Yahoo. It was part of her IBM Research: http://yir.yahoo.com/2002/picks. V.P. Franklin (Arts and Humanities) received the Carter G. Woodson Scholars Medallion from the Association for the Study of African American Life and History. The medallion is given annually to a distinguished scholar in the field of African-American history. He also received the Letitia Woods Brown Prize, given annually by the Association of Black Women Historians to the Best Anthology in the field of African American women's history for the book, Sisters in the Struggle: African American Women in the Civil Rights-Black Power Movement (NYU Press, 2001).
