Nektaria Glinou, Edmund W. Gordon, Sharon Lynn Kagan, Stephen Silverman

Nektaria Glinou, Adjunct Assistant Professor, received her Ph.D. in 2004 in the Program in Mental Retardation and Autism.  Her dissertation, "Enhancing Negotiation-Oriented Decision Making Skills at the Workplace in Adults with Mental Retardation" was awarded a national outstanding dissertation award by the Academy on Mental Retardation.

Edmund W. Gordon, director of the Institute for Urban and Minority Education, inaugurated the American Educational Research Association's Annual Brown Lecture. His talk was titled "Education, Excellence and Equity: Toward Equitable Access to Excellence in Education."

Sharon Lynn Kagan, Co-director of the National Center for Children and Families, and the Associate Dean for Policy, was honored with the most prestigious award given by The Council of Chief State School Officers for her support of education at all levels and for her contributions to the children and educators of America.

Stephen Silverman, Professor of Education in Biobehavioral Studies, chaired an expert panel on physical education and physical activity for children for the American Academy of Pediatrics (APA). The APA is recommending that schools have daily physical education with a progressive curriculum taught by a qualified teacher.
