The Jewish Foundation for Education of Women (JFEW) has honored Teachers College and its students since 1999 with over $1 million in support of scholarships for aspiring math and science teachers willing to make a commitment to teach in the New York City public schools. The Foundation recently awarded a two-year grant of more than $200,000 to continue supporting women scholars studying math and science education at TC in 2013-14 and 2014-15.  

Through the years, JFEW has provided a total of 40 women scholars at TC with generous scholarships to pursue their teaching aspirations, and over 25 continue to teach within the New York City public school system after having completed their two-year service requirement. “JFEW is proud of our TC graduates,” said Executive Director, Elizabeth Leiman Kraiem. “TC gave them the training and resources to do their best work on the front lines of education.”
