Children's Choirs to Sing for Peace

Every Voice Kids at TC and the Every Voice Youth Choir at TC will team up for their annual winter concert on Thursday, January 23, at 6:30 in the College's Milbank Chapel.

The two ensembles, which employ a constructivist teaching philosophy, are made up, respectively of children ages 7-10 and 10-14 from local area schools. They were co-founded in 2008 by Nicole Becker (Ed.D '11), Artistic Director, and Jeanne Goffi-Fynn (Ed.D '96), Voice Specialist and Lecturer in TC's Program in Music & Music Education.

Titled "Peace Seekers II: For the Children of the World," the concert will feature folk songs from Latin America, Russia, Israel, and Kenya, as well as contemporary American songs for peace. The children will be accompanied by jazz pianist Deanna Witkowski.

The event, which is free and open to the public, will also feature presentation of the Every Voice Choir's Peace Seeker Award to Leila Zerrougui, UN Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Children and Armed Conflict.  Ms. Zerrougui will speak about her work advocating for children affected by armed conflict.
