Multi-Media Remix of "Frankenstein" Hits the Stage in Milbank Chapel
Center for the Professional Education of Teachers, Erick Gordon, Adele Bruni, Department of Arts and Humanities, English education.
Conceived and directed by Erick Gordon, senior research fellow at CPET; and Adele Bruni, a doctoral graduate in English Education; Performance at the Center brought together 13 New York City high school students with 13 internationally recruited high school teachers for two weeks at TC. They engaged in deep reading of the early 19th-century British novel and responded to it in a medium of their choice. The responses were stitched together into a multi-media production that played to a full house in the appropriately gothic-looking Milbank Chapel.
A video of the performance and the multi-media collateral will be posted on the Internet as an e-book. Gordon and Bruni hope to reprise Performance at the Center in the summer 2015, and, meanwhile, build an online community of teachers all over the world who want to experiment with this radical new way of teaching literature.
