Another successful run for the Federal Policy Institute course with Prof. Sharon Lynn Kagan
EPSA course, Federal Policy Institute EDPA 4899, offered during fall semesters and led by Professor Sharon Lynn Kagan has had another successful run. It continued into January 2015, when students had a rare, week-long opportunity to work with education policy experts in Washington D.C. The course will finish in February with students presentations.
"The Federal Policy Institute provided an
exclusive chance to engage with real game-changers in education policy at the
very center of United States politics, Washington D.C. We were able to learn a
piece about every influence in education policy from the very leaders
themselves, such as Ginny Edwards from Education Week, David Johns from the
White House Initiative on Educator Excellence for African Americans, Michael
Petrilli from the Thomas B. Fordham Institute, and Richard Kahlenburg from the
Century Foundation. These individuals, and many more, communicated knowledge
that could never be encapsulated in an essay or research paper because of their
direct knowledge to what happens when Senators debate bills or when businessmen
gain more leverage than world-renown academics. Thank you to Dr. Lynn Kagan for
creating such an amazing program-- her reputable position in the education
world allowed us to meet with such honorable leaders in the field."
Ria Mehta, first year M.A. student in Education Policy has shared her opinion about the course.
