Susan Fuhrman's Presidential Term Extended to 2018

The Teachers College Board of Trustees announced today that it has extended the term of service of President Susan H. Fuhrman, continuing her leadership for two additional years beyond the five years of the 2011 contract. In accepting the extension, Fuhrman has agreed to continue to serve as Teachers College’s president through June 30, 2018.

“Under Susan’s inspiring leadership, Teachers College is brimming with energy and innovation, and is stronger and more influential than at any time in its proud 127-year history,” Board Co-Chairs John W. Hyland Jr. and William Dodge Rueckert said in a joint statement.

“Our enrollment is robust, our fiscal and operational health is excellent, our programs in education, psychology, and health are thriving, and fundraising and alumni engagement have soared to record levels,” said Hyland and Rueckert. “Quite simply, Susan is the right leader to position TC to be the preeminent graduate school of education for generations to come, and having her remain at the helm two additional years will help to ensure our success.”

“I am grateful to the Trustees for their guidance, their unwavering support, and the faith they have placed in me to lead my beloved alma mater,” Fuhrman said. “Our work touches millions of lives, every single day, in our community, our city, our nation and around the world. I am proud beyond measure of the extraordinary accomplishments of the faculty, students, alumni and staff of Teachers College, and honored to be able to continue serving as President.”
