Online hotel reservations are now available for the 2018 conference of the Comparative and International Education Society (CIES), which will be held in Mexico City, March 25th – 29th.

The conference – the 62nd annual meeting of CIES – was planned by the organization’s President-Elect, Teachers College’s Regina Cortina, Professor of International & Comparative Education in the Department of International & Transcultural Studies. The theme – “Re-Mapping Global Education: South-North Dialogue” – is “a call to reconsider how we as researchers and practitioners are engaging our field,” Cortina says. “My aim is for the conference to create a meeting space in which we can begin to unpack the hierarchies embedded in our professional and scholarly work.” More specifically, she said, that effort entails “thinking about maps and boundaries that have been used over time to silence the voices of the Global South.”

A block of rooms has been reserved for conference guests at the Hilton Reforma Mexico City for March 21, 2018 – March 31, 2018. The hotel is located downtown, 20 minutes from Mexico City International Airport. The special room rate is for single or double occupancy and will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis until February 21st or until the group block is sold out. Visit the CIES 2018 Annual Meeting Group Reservation Portal for more information about the special rates and to book a room.
