What do you hope to accomplish from pursuing the TCP program this year?

My professional goal is to become an ESL teacher in the Greater Boston area. I hope to improve my teaching skills by learning from everyone at the TCP, including our professors, mentors, and classmates. I also hope to build connections between theory and practice. The TCP offers an excellent opportunity for that because we are able to teach at the Community Language Program.

How has the TCP helped to accomplish your professional development goals so far?

The TCP has helped me tremendously to accomplish my professional goals. For example, one of my goals is to learn how to create student-centered classes. Our professors have not only provided us with reading materials about interactive teaching and learning, but they also have demonstrated how to implement the activities in class. Being able to see how expert teachers engage the students was the most effective way for me to learn. The TCP also prepared us to get ready for the job market. I have received so much guidance from our TCP Director Silvana, and I was able to use some activities I learned from the TCP for my job interviews. The opportunity created by the Program to socialize with the TCP alumni also made me realize that there are many career paths available for us.
