Hand-Arm Bimanual Intensive Training - Including Lower Extremities (HABIT-ILE)

We have recently expanded our research to include rehabilitation of both the upper and lower extremities in children with hemiplegia with great success. After a successful pilot project, we have expanded such training to children with other forms of cerebral palsy, including diplegia, tetraplegia and quadriplegia. We are currently conducting a study with Shriners Hospital for Children in Portland, Oregon. The study is evaluating the impact of dosing parameters on improving motor skill acquisition and retention in children with bilateral cerebral palsy (BCP). Specifically, the study aims to determine if significant gains in functional motor skills, activity and self-mastery are retained in children with BCP who receive Hand-Arm Bimanual Intensive Training - Including Lower Extremities (HABIT-ILE) in either a 3-week intensive camp format or over the course of 15 weeks for a total number of 90 hours of training in both instances.
