Research Discipline/Bio
Joe Cimino is an artist, musician, educator, and a doctoral student in the Art & Art Education program. His artistic practice focuses on the entanglement between history, familial relationships, memory, and the environment and how they influence human perception. His doctoral research is influenced by his artistic and teaching practice and is focused on how uncertainty and anxiety from personal and external factors affect how art students develop their aesthetics and creative/artistic practices within higher education. He holds a Master of Fine Arts degree from Studio Arts College International (SACI), located in Florence, Italy, and his Bachelor of Fine Arts from Rowan University, and is the Meyers Media Art Studio fellow at Teachers College. Cimino has exhibited his works in the United States and internationally, with solo and group exhibitions located in Italy, South Korea, China, and Poland, as well as nationally in New York City, and Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
