Nutrition Program Alumni and Faculty Honored at SNEB Annual Conference for Recent Study On Cost-Effectiveness of a Nutrition Education Curriculum in Elementary Schools
Nutrition program alumni Matthew Graziose (Ph.D. ’17) and Heewon Lee Gray (Ph.D. ’09), and faculty, Isobel Contento and Pamela Koch, were honored on July 22, 2018 at the Society for Nutrition Education and Behavior (SNEB) annual conference.
They received the 2018 Best Article Award for their publication in the Journal of the Nutrition Education and Behavior titled, “Cost‐effectiveness of a Nutrition Education Curriculum Intervention in Elementary Schools.” The article, which appeared in the September 2017 issue of the journal, examined the cost-effectiveness of an obesity prevention nutrition education curriculum (Food, Health, & Choices) as delivered to 5th grade students in New York City fifth-grade public schools. The Food, Health & Choices curriculum was developed and evaluated by nutrition program faculty, research staff, and doctoral students.
The authors accepted the award and lead author Matt Graziose presented details of the study at the annual conference hosted in Minneapolis, MN, which was a gathering of the professional organization that represents the unique interests of nutrition educators worldwide. Members of SNEB’s Journal Committee and the Board of Editors for the journal selected winners among all articles published over the previous year.
