APA apologizes for longstanding contributions to systemic racism

“On October 29, 2021, the APA Council of Representatives passed three resolutions acknowledging and apologizing for APA’s role in promoting and perpetuating racism and racial discrimination in the United States; the role of psychology and APA in dismantling systemic racism in the United States; and advancing health equity in psychology.”

“For the first time, APA and American psychology are systematically and intentionally examining, acknowledging and charting a path forward to address their roles in perpetuating racism,” said APA President Jennifer F. Kelly, PhD.
