Hollingworth Preschool is a university-based early childhood center located on the Upper West Side campus of Teachers College, Columbia University. As an internationally recognized program, we provide education for creative, bright, and curious children ages three through five, each of whom bring a unique learning profile and limitless potential to the classroom environment. Our philosophy is rooted in the belief that all preschoolers are capable of learning through shared inquiry, sustained play, and varied experiences. At Hollingworth, every child is a treasured member of the community and is given the opportunity to deepen their sense of self as a dynamic and resilient learner.

The level of thoughtfulness of the preschool is unparalleled. The curriculum is paced, comprehensive and most importantly it creates a foundation of curiosity and inquiry in our child even from such as young age.

We felt the curriculum was both thoughtful and responsive to the children with many connections between books (both stories read and available in the waiting area), activities and times of the year. We appreciated the exposure our child had to both variety and quality of materials and the support she was given in expressing her views and ideas in words and choice of activities individually, in small and large groups.

We feel the curriculum is excellent and could not be happier with that. The music is wonderful and the dropbox songs were terrific. Hollingworth was a life changing experience for our child and we will always be grateful for the fine work, guidance, and principled approach of the whole HW team.

We enjoyed the celebration events as they were long enough to mark the occasion but short enough for children to ‘still enjoy the occasion’. The in classroom opportunities were a wonderful way to experience a part of our child's day with her and gain insight into the curriculum. The preparation activities (shopping, cooking etc.) in the classroom for thanksgiving enriched the celebration and the cookies helped our child to understand the concept of appreciation prior to winter celebration, which she carried forward at home.

I appreciated that the subjects were tailored to the interests of the majority, and that in every lesson and part of the itinerary, there were some skills being intentionally developed such as memory or math.

The attention to detail of each individual child at Hollingworth is truly spectacular. Each child is known and considered, and we've found our notes and interactions with the teachers on the subject of our child to have been incredibly thoughtful.
