The Peace and Human Rights Education field of study applies interdisciplinary, cross-national and critical perspectives to the roles that education plays in promoting justice, sustainable peace, and human dignity. The Peace and Human Rights Education concentration is primarily concerned with addressing direct structural and cultural violence through pedagogy, curriculum, and policies, in both formal and non-formal contexts. As such, all national environments are relevant but especially those that are challenged through conflict, structural oppression, or fragile democracies. Through this concentration, students gain a conceptual understanding of peace and human rights. Peace and Human Rights Education courses also address policies and practices of actors, ranging from inter-governmental organizations to community-based educators.

You can find more information about the concentration by visiting the International and Comparative Education Program page.
