Peace and Human Rights Education at Teachers College

Welcome

Peace and Human Rights Education focuses on how teaching and learning can both reflect and foster human dignity, security and justice at the interpersonal and intrapersonal levels. How can education contribute to peaceful and just societies? How can education help to repair the wounds of discrimination or conflict, and disrupt the possibility of these being repeated? How can education – both in schools and in non-formal education – help us to truly see, accept and care for one another?

Teachers College has a long history of engagement in peace education and, more recently, human rights education. On this website, you will find information about the faculty, courses and other curricular experiences supporting this approach. You will learn about the range of projects that faculty and students are undertaking – in research and resource development – to foster the aims of peace and human rights education. Please have a look and get engaged!
