Steph Caballero (she/they) grew up outside of Chicago, and moved to NYC in 2012 after attending The Boston Conservatory for undergraduate school. They have been working at TC since April 2023 as Senior Associate Director of Alumni Relations and was recently promoted to Senior Director. Over the years, Steph has worked in a variety of fields, including education, politics, and community engagement. She pivoted to education in 2015 when she completed a year of service with Americorps–serving as a Site Coordinator for a reading center at an elementary school on the Lower East Side with Reading Partners, a literacy intervention non-profit. From there, Steph attended Johns Hopkins University for their MS.Ed in Elementary Education, while becoming a certified teacher for grades 1-6. Steph has always been politically active, volunteering on multiple local and federal campaigns in Queens, and in 2021, made the life-altering decision to become the campaign manager for a dear friend’s city council campaign. After this, Steph was recruited to be the campaign manager for the first campaign of State Senator Kristen Gonzalez, and served on the Senator’s transition team as the Interim Deputy Chief of Staff. When not working, Steph spends time reading books in the many parks of Astoria, going back to her theater roots and seeing as many plays as she can, and caring for the many plants that their fiancée is sure are going to take over the apartment soon.
