Dear Members of the TC Community,

As we begin the holiday weekend, we want to recognize with appreciation all those who have participated in the College’s Advancing Community Together (ACT) programming since President Bailey launched the initiative at the start of the semester.

• You joined us in facilitated listening sessions to share your thoughts and experiences, and helped us to understand what we could provide to further build our community.
• You took time to learn about our processes around how to file discrimination complaints, and how we handle them, so that you could be an active and engaged member of our community.
• You took part in a review of our policies, gave us feedback, and provided suggestions for how we ensure equity and accountability.
• You volunteered in our Community Representative Program and received training to facilitate communication, engagement and support for events, protests or demonstrations.
• Continuing students took time to provide feedback on their campus experience in 2023-24, enabling us to learn how we can make our campus more inclusive and safe.

Upcoming: We encourage you to participate in education and awareness-building sessions now being scheduled for which we have partnered with Project Shema on the topic of Jewish Peoplehood and Antisemitism, and with the Muslim Community Network, on the topic of Islam and Islamophobia. Each session is an opportunity to learn, to engage with and better understand the history and cultural contexts of antisemitism and Islamophobia. Watch your email for announcements, and check our Get Involved section at the bottom of our ACT page to see what is planned for the remainder of this semester and the upcoming spring term. 

We are mindful that what makes TC a home for so many is a community that is able to come together across academic disciplines, across diverse opinions, and across many cultures – both in times of trouble as well as joy. Your efforts to help build and sustain that community as a member are so important to us, and such a vital part of Teachers College.
