Katie is a former New York City public school teacher with six years of experience teaching elementary school in Washington Heights and the South Bronx. She holds a B.A. in Anthropology form Barnard College, an M.S. in Teaching Childhood Education from Fordham University (through the New York City Teaching Fellows), and an M.A. in Education Policy from Teachers College. Prior to moving into her role as an Associate Director in the Office of Teacher Education, she was a full-time instructor in TC's Elementary Inclusive Program for six years.

Shamari Reid
Shamari Reid
TOC II Graduate Assistant

Shamari is a doctoral candidate in TC's department of Curriculum & Teaching, where he focuses on urban education and teacher education. Before starting his doctoral program, he completed a B.A. in Spanish Education at Oklahoma City University and an M.A. in Spanish and TESOL at New York University. He has taught Spanish and ESL at the elementary, secondary, and post secondary levels in Oklahoma, New York, Uruguay, and Spain. Most recently, he has begun teaching undergraduate and graduate courses on Urban Education, Teaching Developmental Reading, and Literacy, Language, and Culture at CUNY-Hunter College. His research explores Black youth agency, advocacy, activism, and transformative teacher education.
