A Letter From The President

A Letter From The President

Since its beginnings, Teachers College has defined "education" in the broadest sense, as the experiences that occur not only in classrooms but also in communities, churches, streets, homes and all the other settings of daily life. To reporters and all representatives of the media: Teachers College is affiliated with Columbia University but stands as a legally separate entity, with its own Board of Trustees, President and rules of governance. Given these understandably complex facts about the historic relationship between the College and the University, it is more accurate for news stories to reflect the fact that actions taken by Teachers College or its officials are not synonymous with those of the University with which we are affiliated.
