Photodocumenting 1

As artists and art educators, we are constantly making art and are often asked for photodocumentation of it to submit to shows. Having a well lit, composed photograph of your artwork is always recommended by gallerists, curators, and jurors for getting accepted into shows, and cataloging your art professionally. Therefore, the goal of this workshop is to help artists, and art educators, learn some techniques, DIY strategies, and editing methods for creating gallery, or portfolio ready images of their artworks.

Participants are encouraged to bring 1 to 2 physical artworks (Ceramics, Sculpture, paintings, etc.) with them to document! These can be past works, current works, or even ones you'd like to submit for an upcoming show. This workshop is broken into two halves. In the first half, we will go over some basics of using a DSLR camera, and lens differences, along with covering how to use photography light boxes to easily document smaller (under 17x17 inches) artworks, as well as how to use the space around us with lighting to still get great images. In the second half of the workshop we will go over some quick photoshop techniques to professionally edit your photos!

This workshop will take place in the Myers Media Art studio located in 528-51c (the basement)–Be sure to connect to TC wifi beforehand as the basement is a deadzone with no cell service!

Time: 12-6pm | Date: April 11th | Location: Myers Media Art Studio (TR 51C)
