Program Description:

Dignity for All Students Act Training in Harassment, Bullying, Cyberbullying, and Discrimination in Schools

Format Description
Our 2024 DASA workshops will include a 3 hour asynchronous course followed by a 3 hour Zoom session. Approximately ten days prior to your Zoom date, you will receive access to your DASA Canvas course, where you will have several interactive modules to complete on your own time. Participants must complete the asynchronous module prior to attending their designated Zoom session.

Information for Applicants for Certification

All new teachers and school-related professionals applying for New York State certification must take this state mandated 6-hour workshop in accordance with Article 2 Sections 10-18 of the Education Law.

This workshop meets the Dignity for All Students (DASA) training requirement of the NYS Education Department for state certification.

Teachers College, Columbia University is approved to offer this workshop by the New York State Education Department. After participants complete their workshop, they will receive a pdf of their certificate. In addition, the TC Office of Teacher Education shares completion data with the New York State Education Department so that participants’ TEACH accounts reflect their completion status, without any additional steps from participants.

Workshop fees:

  • $150 – Non-Affiliates Registration Fee
  • $75 Alumni and Affiliates - Teachers College, Columbia University Alumni
  • $50 Student - Teachers College, Columbia University

How to Register for the DASA Certification Workshop: Please click on the respective Zoom date for registration

Registration will close approximately 10 days before the workshop date or when the workshop is closed/full; at that time, all participants will receive access to the asynchronous module and are asked to complete it prior to their Zoom date.

This workshop is limited to 40 participants.

Participants are asked to arrive a half-hour before the Zoom session begins, in order to sign in and confirm that their audio and video functions are working. Latecomers will not be admitted.

*Participation in the Zoom session will require a strong internet connection and a device with a video camera.

Cancellation Policy:

Continuing Professional Studies at Teachers College, Columbia University will provide a full (100%) reduction of charges if the written request to withdraw is received at least 30 days prior to the first scheduled session. Given the demand for this program and the work entailed in its preparation, if the cancellation is reported within 30 days or fewer before the program starts, only 50% of the total charges will be credited. Registrants who wish to withdraw on or after they have received the asynchronous module for their DASA course will not receive any reduction of charges.

Registrants who fail to attend and do not cancel prior to the event will be liable for full charges for the event.

NOTE: All refund requests must be made in writing to the Continuing Professional Studies at Teachers College, Columbia University. Refunds will be made in the payment method received. Please allow 4-6 weeks for check refunds to be processed and 3-5 days for credit card refunds.
