Capital Projects
For infrastructural emergencies (e.g., leaks, paint chipping), submit a work order or contact the Office of Facilities Management (212-678-3010).
Complete the Capital Project Request Form to submit your request to the TC Capital Planning Committee. Please note that the form is domain-restricted to <@tc.columbia.edu>. You must be logged into the TC portal to view and complete it. Also note—submitting this form does not guarantee approval of your request.
Updates
The Capital Project Request Form will be offline August 1 - 31, 2025 for critical updates ahead of the 2025-2026 academic year.
Review Process
- Submitting the form does not guarantee approval for your request. You may be contacted to provide additional information.
- Requests are evaluated based on criticality, alignment with institutional strategic priorities, and available resources.
- The Committee usually meets monthly during the fall/spring semesters. Depending on request volume and complexity, it may take several weeks to receive a response to your request.
- While requests for the current academic year continue to be reviewed, decisions are typically made one fiscal year in advance to allow relevant offices to coordinate with minimal disruption to normal campus activity.
Space
Complete the Space Request Form to submit a request to the Office of Academic Planning.

Also note—submitting this form does not guarantee approval of your request. Institutional space is a finite resource, and a key priority is ensuring its efficient and responsible use to minimize unnecessary expansion across the College. Units are expected to thoroughly assess their current usage and explore opportunities for consolidation or reorganization to meet present needs before submitting a request.

- Priority will be given to maximizing the efficient utilization of space across the College.
- Additional Information
- You may be asked to provide additional information and/or an audit of your unit's current space usage.
- Space requests for new employees should include the official letter of employment, which can be uploaded with this form.
- Timeline
- While requests for the current academic year are still reviewed, assignments are typically made one academic year in advance to allow sufficient time for coordinated relocations with minimal disruption to normal campus operations.
- Requests are reviewed on a monthly basis during the fall and spring semesters. Please allow several weeks for a final decision, as processing time may vary depending on the nature of the request and any extenuating circumstances.
