Allison Sheff Little, Education Policy program alumna, M.A. 2007, works as the Executive Director of STEM at the Massachusetts Department of Higher Education in Boston, MA. She has shared with us the press release that the MA Department of Higher Education sent out to announce a 1.5 million National Science Foundation (NSF) grant that Allison secured for the state as the Principal Investigator. 

In short, the grant is creating a 2-to-4 year pathway for STEM community college students to transfer to a state university to pursue their bachelor’s degree in a STEM field and earn licensure to teach a secondary science or math. The scholarships will be offered to students from the under-represented minorities with a goal to increase the diversity in the ranks of educators who will teach STEM subjects in high-need districts.
