"Testing Accommodations: From Psychometrics to Clinical Decision Making"

About 1 in 7 students in public schools has an identified disability, and the vast majority of these students take tests under different conditions from their peers. Later on, many examinees receive accommodations on admissions, certification, and even personnel selection tests. They often receive additional time, or take tests in a separate location, or have test items read to them. How do these testing accommodations change the properties of the resulting test scores, and how should decisions be made about who receives which accommodations? Answering these questions requires an integration of psychometric data and clinical expertise. Dr. Lovett will review highlights from his research on testing accommodations to illustrate evidence-based practices in this controversial area.

To request disability-related accommodations, contact OASID at oasid@tc.edu, (212) 678-3689, as early as possible.
