Title: Input Robustness: An In-Depth Study of ESL/EFL Textbooks

Description: The purpose of this study is to examine the dual linguistic and frequency distribution of the simple present and present progressive in an English as a Second or Foreign Language (ESL/EFL) textbook corpus through a novel application of the input robustness framework. In addition to an overview of L2 input robustness, this REAL Doc session also offers attendees hands-on opportunities to code for one of the sub-variables of input robustness, namely input variability—using actual textual discourse input data from the study.

Bio: Wai Man Adrienne Lew is an Ed.D. candidate in Applied Linguistics at Teachers College, Columbia University, specializing in Second Language Acquisition.
