Title: Video-Mediated Interaction in Writing Consultations
Description: The data she will be sharing is a video clip and transcript from a Zoom writing consultation where participants are working on a shared Google Doc. Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a conversation analysis data session and engage in a line-by-line analysis of the transcript.
Bio: Kelly is a doctoral student in the Language Use track. She uses conversation analysis to study the teaching, tutoring, and learning of writing. Her pilot study examines interactions between tutors and writers in video-mediated writing consultations to understand how participants arrive at shared understandings in virtual spaces. She is particularly interested in how tutors and writers work with shared texts and adapt their deictic and embodied practices for these video-mediated spaces.
