This workshop is a total of 6 hours: 2 hours of pre-course work, 3 hours live with Dr. Sabic-El-Rayess, and 1 hour of post-course work. You must complete all hours to receive 6 CTLEs or 0.6 CEUs. Partial credit will not be given.
The objectives of the Workshop session are to:
- Spotlight the role of resilience in countering narratives of hate.
- Support educators and educational personnel with tactics to implement in-school practices to prevent hate and discrimination and avoid Educational Displacement.
- Help educators and educational personnel cultivate an awareness of their positionality and assumptions to bring awareness of biased speech and conduct in themselves and students.
- Engage with educators as they contribute their experiences, lessons and stories and join a network interested in collaboration and learning.
- Present ways for educators to increase a sense of belonging among all students in schools.
