Kelly DeLuca earned her Ed.D. in Curriculum & Teaching with a concentration in Literacy from Teachers College, Columbia University, her M.A. from Sacred Heart University in Secondary Education, and B.A. from The University of Connecticut in English & History. Prior to earning her doctorate, Kelly served as a public-school English Teacher in New Haven and Wallingford, Connecticut. While at Teachers College, Kelly has worked extensively with M.A. students and teacher candidates entering the classroom for the first time via their fieldwork placements. Her teaching and research center around how teachers can integrate critical and multimodal literacies into their curriculum design for English courses. In her free time, Kelly is an avid equestrian who plays polo and volunteers for local horsemanship programs.   

Preparing Preservice English Teachers to See Opportunity in Uncertainty

  • This longitudinal research project looks to data initially collected as exit interviews with teacher candidates participating in fieldwork during the 2020/21 school year to determine the longer term effects of programmatic shifts in the wake of the move to virutal fieldwork.
