Comitas Research Fund: Call for Proposals

The “Anthropology Research Fund in Honor of Lambros Comitas” was set up by alumni of our programs, to help with research expenses, particularly those incurred as part of our requirement for pilot ethnographic work at the end of the first year.

The generosity of our alumni allows us to distribute a very few scholarships for such work. The maximum grant is for $1,500.

To apply, you must submit a two-page proposal (about 500 words) by April 1st to Rachael Morales (rcs2181@tc.columbia.edu). The awards will be announced to the selected individuals no later than the final meeting of the Spring colloquium (late April).

The proposal must include a budget of expenses related to the research, including (but not necessarily limited to):
1) travel expenses
2) expenses for equipment related to the research

3) extra living expenses 4) reciprocity gifts

The award will come to the individual as a stipend. No detailed accounting or receipts will be expected though a general statement of how the funds have been spent will be requested.
