Communicating Research Across Audiences

January 5 - 16, 2026
Communicating Research Across Audiences

Program Description:

This course explores how to communicate research effectively—both in traditional scholarly venues and in public or multimodal forms. Students learn how to share their work across diverse audiences through writing, presentation, and creative modes of dissemination, building skills in publishing, presenting, and public engagement. The course demystifies the process of moving from research to impact: identifying audiences, choosing appropriate venues, and balancing rigor with accessibility. Through workshops, peer feedback, and applied projects, students develop one academic and one public-facing product that advance their scholarly and creative goals. Students will benefit most from this course if they have one or more research projects in progress that they would like to develop for publication or broader dissemination.
