Making and Managing Money
As the Wu-Tang Clan’s classic anthem tells us, “Cash Rules Everything Around Me.” This week-long workshop will explore a variety of theoretical and practical components of making and managing money. Students will develop their critical consciousness about our current economic landscape, as well as the structures and causes for historical and enduring wealth disparities in the US. Students will engage in visioning around how to disrupt those structures to redistribute wealth to historically marginalized communities (both on a personal level and a community level). They will also develop their confidence speaking, reading, and writing about finances. Throughout the week-long module, students will have opportunities to share and develop skills specifically tied to generating income and managing money. Some topics we’ll explore: trading stocks, starting a business, managing credit cards/debt, budgeting, creating and growing a brand, AND MORE.
