Advocacy Training & Hill Visits:
Along with partners from The Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics; Center for Science in the Public Interest; Purdue University; and Food Nutrition Policy Consultants; the Tisch Food Center hosted a pre-conference session intended to equip nutrition education practitioners with the skills and confidence to speak to their elected officials. As part of this effort, the Tisch Food Center facilitated SNEB members making over 20 visits to their Members of Congress across eight states: Florida, Maryland, New York, Virginia, Indiana, Washington, Iowa, and Ohio. Advocates highlighted importance of nutrition education in their home state and district.
'Dialogue Now' & Panel Discussion:
The Tisch Food Center staff led a ‘Dialogue Now’ session with partner Share Our Strength with the goal of developing ideas for communicating and marketing to build understanding and support of nutrition education from the public. In addition, Pam Koch offered perspective on a panel discussing the future of school-based nutrition education programs.

Awards:
The Tisch Food Center had the privilege of celebrating with Professor Emeritus Joan Gussow as she received the Helen Denning Ullrich Award for Lifetime Excellence in Nutrition Education at SNEB.
