Institutional Workshops

Institutional Workshops

The Tzedakah Lab team works with advancement teams grappling with how to further diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice (DEIJ) goals in their work. While an institution might value DEIJ work and be committed to anti-racist and social justice values, we understand that it can be difficult to fully translate these insitutional values into advancement work. That’s why we work with each institution to co-create workshops tailored to your specific environment and needs to help you realize your DEIJ values.

What that looks like in action come through in these four overarching elements:

  • Personalization: Each workshop series is designed with your institution, your office, your goals, and your current staff capacities in mind. No two workshops are alike because we take your needs and goals into consideration.
  • Co-Creation: Advancement staff are essential to building each workshop agenda based on the needs, goals, and culture of the advancement team. Through this co-creation process, we’re able to tailor each workshop session specifically to the needs of your institution but also adapt the workshop structure based on the information that emerges each session.
  • Interactive Exercises: “Learning by doing” is an overarching value of our Lab which translates into a lot of movement and discussion through interactive exercises. These activities are designed to not only help participants digest the content, but also to be a part of the action step creation process. Each exercise brings participants into the brainstorming process which helps them develop ownership and elicits better action step outcomes than could be done if they were created by a small leadership team.
  • Action-Driven: Advancement offices will leave with tangible information that can lead to specific steps to operationalize the lessons and information that come from the workshops for the institution’s specific environment and needs..

The Wexner Center for the Arts

This three-session series served as a first step to rethinking philanthropy and how it can be done. The workshop didn’t just include Development staff, but everyone at The Wex to help expand the idea of what philanthropy and fundraising means for everyone’s work. Each of the sessions built on one another to lead to the ultimate takeaways from the full workshop.
