Teachers College Conference Engagement Support Policy

This policy establishes how Teachers College Alumni & Community Engagement will contribute to eligible expenses incurred conducting engagement on behalf of the College at conferences.

Monetary support is limited to an aggregate value of $1,000 per academic year per applicant. Support is not guaranteed.

Conference engagement support is available to Teachers College faculty and alumni. 

Funds may be provided to support engagement events at professional, research, and academic conferences, conventions, summits, colloquiums, symposiums, and similar events centered on education, health, and/or psychology. 

Engagement events include receptions, socials, mixers, dinners, lunches, and similar events to connect Teachers College community members. 

Expenses eligible for monetary support generally include event space rentals, audio/visual support, food and beverage, and event photography. 

Expenses ineligible for monetary support include but are not limited to membership dues, conference fees, travel, and lodging.

The following information must be provided to receive Conference Engagement Support.

At least eight weeks before the conference, the applicant(s) must submit the following:

  • TC Alumni & Community Engagement’s Conference request form
    • Conference Name, Date(s), Website, Location
    • Projected Attendance - indicated by past engagement, recent engagement survey, or list of TC community members attending the conference
    • Engagement Venue, Venue Contact, Date, Time
    • Engagement Co-hosts (if applicable)
    • Estimated number of TC alumni in attendance (e.g., based on previous alumni participation). 
  • Promotional requests (e.g., event registration page, social media promotion) via

TC Generation’s project request form

Within 48 business hours after the engagement, applicants must submit:

  • RSVP and Attendance lists using TC registration form
  • Invoice 
  • Event Photos 
  • Post-Event Feedback Form

Requests for conference engagement support must be submitted eight weeks before the conference dates. 

An award determination will be sent to each applicant approved for Conference Engagement Support within TWO weeks of their request.

Once the applicant has been notified of financial support, the applicant will handle all billing through Unimarket or ChromeRiver and the TC Alumni & Community Engagement team will provide our index for the allotted amount.

 

 

Teachers College can provide event promotion via event invitations sent to alumni residing near the conference location and social media. 

Teachers College can provide TC swag.

These are estimates based on past event attendance and cost. Teachers College may provide support, which differs from the chart below. 

Funding may also be influenced by conference location, considering areas of high concentration of TC community members, especially alumni– will be given priority.
