Marion Leaman, a doctoral candidate in Dr. Lisa Edmonds’ Aphasia Rehabilitation and Bilingualism lab was selected to participate in Pathways 2019, a year-long research training program that is a part of the American Speech-Language Hearing Associations’ Mentoring Network. The Pathways program provides intensive 1:1 mentoring and programming to promising early career research scientists, preparing candidates as competitive applicants for National Institutes of Health research funding (R21 and K23 awards) and productive clinical research careers. Ms. Leaman’s dissertation focuses on measurement of linguistic skills during conversation in people with aphasia and healthy adults. Her long-term aim is to develop aphasia intervention that has positive impact on linguistic production during everyday conversation for people with aphasia.
