Juneteenth Community Celebration
June 20th, 2024
12:00pm - 2:00pm
Russell Courtyard

This year marks the 159th anniversary of Juneteenth's observance. On June 19th, 1865, two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation, enslaved African American in Texas finally received notification that slavery was abolished and that they were, therefore, free. Juneteenth commemorates this notification and the abolition of slavery throughout the United States. It is a holiday of remembrance, reflection, and celebration of independence.

Join us in the Russell Courtyard on Thursday, June 20th from 12:00 - 2:00pm to celebrate Juneteenth in community. RSVP by June 12th at https://bit.ly/TC-Juneteenth2024Alumni interested in joining can RSVP with Lauryn Duncan (ljd2156@tc.columbia.edu), Alumni & Community Engagement team.
