The Trauma-Informed Classroom: Attending to the Whole Student
The Trauma-Informed Classroom will be an interactive virtual workshop that will include active discussion and small group and/or partner breakouts.
Trauma-informed pedagogy creates opportunities for all young people to thrive and grow emotionally, socially, and intellectually. We will learn basic brain science and theories for understanding trauma and its impacts on the body, explore the role of feelings in the classroom, learn creative and fun regulation activities, and celebrate the transformative power of community and relationships. Through storytelling, group discussion, and other activities, we will together imagine and experience what a trauma-informed and emotionally-attuned learning environment can look like.
Developed and facilitated by Katherine Evering-Rowe and Chloe Zelkha
