Thomas Rock

Dr. Thomas P. Rock has been selected for a Fulbright award to Japan.  This grant is made possible through funds appropriated annually by the United States Congress.  The Fulbright Program, which aims to increase mutual understanding between people of the United States and the people of other countries, is the flagship international exchange program sponsored by the U.S. government.  Dr. Rock will be one of ten participants in the 2018 program for International Education Administrators to Japan in June of this year. He will focus his project on how Japanese institutions of higher education structure their student support services and if areas of competency for practitioners are similar to ACPA and NASPA standards for the profession that we have established as principles for the field in the United States.  Dr. Rock will review organizational structures, staffing, training, and best practices in student affairs at higher education institutions in Tokyo, Hiroshima and Kyoto this June for two weeks.  Tom is currently the Vice Provost for Student Affairs at Teachers College, Columbia University.
