Shoko Hirose is a full time student in the Social-Organizational Psychology MA program. She relocated to New York in 2017, and has since loved living in this vibrant city and joining the community of unique, like-minded colleagues at TC. Fascinated by the impact of covert processes on organization / team / individual effectiveness, her favorite courses so far have been Group Dynamics, Microaggressions in Institutional Climates, and Practicum in Change and Consultation. Shoko currently serves on the leadership board of TC Feminism(s) and is co-founder and advisor to Empowering Asian Women (EAW), a new student organization at Columbia SIPA.

Prior to TC, Shoko built her career in Asia, first in management consulting and then as an HR business partner for a global investment bank. With a passion for D&I and helping to build organizational and leadership resilience, she is currently doing an internship at YSC, a boutique consulting firm specializing in leadership strategy and organizational development. She hopes to continue her path in OD consulting after graduation.

Outside of work and school, Shoko enjoys exploring NYC and going for brunch, coffee and happy hours with her friends. While she loves being out and about, she is on a personal mission to leverage her 2 years of grad school to take part in her own "energy project" - practicing mindfulness through meditation and yoga and (very rigorously!) protecting her sleep routine.

Natasha DaSilva is a 2008 MA program graduate. She is currently based in Portland, ME as the Human Resources Director for Tom's of Maine, a Colgate-Palmolive subsidiary. She leads all aspects of people development, succession planning, employee relations, and performance management for the commercial and manufacturing teams. She is also a part of a global Organization Design forum that is currently focused on bringing greater expertise and knowledge sharing on the topic across all of Human Resources at Colgate-Palmolive.

Natasha joined Colgate after completing the MA program and has held numerous roles. One that is notable was supporting the Global Finance organization in leading change management and organization design during a global transformation project. It was unique to be an internal consultant for other parts of Colgate. Another was her first operational role leading HR for Canada where Natasha supported two subsidiaries from the Toronto office. In both experiences, Natasha was able to leverage and apply various aspects of group dynamics to enable sustaining change.

What really makes all the hard work satisfying is Natasha's family. She's been married for 10 years and has a daughter that is 7, and a son who will be 3 later this year. They have also enjoyed the adventures that her work has taken them on and look forward to others in the future.
