ANNOUNCEMENTS FROM EXTERNAL FUNDING AGENCIES

 

COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY

COLUMBIA GLOBAL, through Columbia World Projects, Columbia Global Centers, and the Center for Political Economy, is providing five funding opportunities for faculty and researchers to address complex global challenges. TC faculty are eligible to apply for each. Please check their respective application deadlines and eligibility requirements. 

  • Early Career Impact Fellowship: Year-long program for early-career faculty to support research for social impact. The fellowship features a workshop series, summer planning grants, and seed funding designed to position faculty to successfully pursue social impact work. Deadline: January 31, 2024.
  • Center for Political Economy Faculty Grants: One-year grants for faculty to generate new knowledge and networks, facilitate the exchange of discoveries, accelerate the identification of key challenges, and expand the methods scholars use relating to firms and industrial policy, work and labor, and money and finance. Deadline: March 4, 2024.
  • 2024 Columbia World Projects Impact Awards: Two levels of funding exist for faculty and researchers to support bold ideas for addressing a pressing societal challenge in the pursuit of creating thriving communities in the US and around the world through 2-3-year funded projects. January 11, 2024 virtual Q&A (register here). Deadline: January 22, 2024.
  • Columbia Global Resilience Fund: The first funding opportunity through this newly established fund aims to harness the University’s intellectual resources and practical expertise to support recovery and resiliency efforts in the regions of Turkey affected by catastrophic earthquakes in February 2023. Deadline: February 5, 2024.
  • President’s Global Innovation Fund: Round 10 of the President’s Global Innovation Fund, which supports innovative faculty projects enriched by the infrastructure, expertise, and connections of the Columbia Global Centers. Deadline: TBA.

MAILMAN SCHOOL OF PUBLIC HEALTH, COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY

Columbia University's SHARP Program in the Mailman School of Public Health is hosting the NIH Grant Writing Boot Camp: Building a Strong Foundation for Funding Success. The NIH Grant Writing Boot Camp is a two-day intensive boot camp combining lectures, hands-on activities, and discussions to demystify the NIH application process. This training will prepare participants to submit an NIH grant proposal that turns reviewers into advocates, positioning the applicant for success. Teachers College faculty and non-tenured lecturers, postdocs, and doctoral students are eligible to attend.

Summer 2024 dates: Livestream, online training July 8-9, 2024; 11:00am - 6:00pm EDT. Please note this training is not a self-paced, pre-recorded online training. ROBIN HOOD FOUNDATION 

Robin Hood reached out to Teachers College to publicize its Request for Concept Papers (RFC) regarding Early Childhood Education. Robin Hood will distribute $6 million in the next two years to fund organizations based in New York City that are dedicated to delivering programs that prioritize the following: 1) Healthy Adult-Child Interaction & Attachment; 2) Social-Emotional Development of Children, and 3) Literacy & Language Skills of Children. Applications will be accepted until January 31, 2024.
